I mounted it today on a practika bc20.

Despite the camera's not so clear focusing screen (a bit fuzzy outside center) I was able to realize how this lens can be good.

At 28 corners are very good, will see the dia later but despite the crappiness of the viewfinder I had a very good impression in term of uniform brightness and lack of distortion; even with camera tilted upward buildings are perfectly viewable showing a 35mm like distortion, with no barrel distortion, just straight converging lines that are quite tolerable and still pleasant to the eye.

At seventy all feels regular, a bit less bright at 4.5 but still useable for my kind of pics (I like shadows plays under the sun ..).

In macro mode I could see details of a bus timetable with clarity.

Overall the lens shows remarkable uniformity in terms of brightness and aberrations, actual examinations of this roll will say more in terms of sharpness.

Results however will certainly be influenced by the unstable shutter that vibrates strongly already at 1/30.

I would advise to buy this lens along with a better camera, as log as there might be practikas with decent shutters.

I have been investigating inexpensive but good vintage midrange zooms from the "classic" era. I just took some shots on my a7ii with the Kiron 28-70 macro and posted to the site:

I would love to see some shots from the prakticar. Apparently most of the zooms from that era are pretty bad but some gems can be had for very cheap (for now!).

I plan to develop my slides myself in early winter, in summer I just freeze them since I go out taking images.

Will post for sure. In a backlight situation I noticed a mild flare, but shielding the lens with my other hand eliminated the problem.

For sure as far as coating is concerned it won't beat a zeiss T (I can compare with the 35-70 vario sonnara for c/y) but carrying the c/y around while working or commuting is not healthy.

Lens seems to be an early Samyang zoom: http://www.photorevolt.com/prodotto_id_303.html
Surely a decent thieves repellent Smile.

Quite ingenerous. It is clearly quite good, surely not stellar.

As fro thieves, it is small and I might carry a stiletto, better suited ...
