Just want to do some test...
Sony A7 set to shot in BW with fixed white balance, the lens is the J12, the filter is the orange KIEV OC-12

Well, the filter darkens the scene somewhat, and there's more contrast that seems to be evident. But my question is, is the increased apparent contrast due to the filter or due to the fact that it's darkened the scene somewhat?

I guess I'd try dialing in some EV compensation so the exposures were equal and then see if there were any difference in contrast. I'm presuming that's what you're after by using the orange filter.
