Here are some recent images from a recent acquisition - Soligor 135mm f1.8. These are all shot at 1.8 to observe the characteristics of this lens. It appears to be a solid performer, but prefers directional light as opposed to strong backlight. Aperture is preset type with 16 blades. My copy has the T Mount with original Olympus adapter attached. Overall it seems to be a solid performer. I opened and cleaned a bit of ancient haze on some of the elements which seems to have improved the contrast.

I know these lenses were available in different schematics and under different labels - It would be great if other owners can share some pictures as well.

The schematics of my lens seem to confirm with schematics listed for soligor in this drawing: http://www.digicamclub.de/attachment.php?attachmentid=19882&stc=1&d=1348936524

The DoF is super thin, especially at closer distances. Even the slightest user error make the images appear soft as it goes out of focus, however its very simple to focus with X-T1 on stationary subjects.
Couple of quick lens images on my X-T1 (Samsung note2)

That lens has always interested me, I like my Soligors. I think I shall have to get one now I've seen your pictures.

Thank you!

I must admit, it was quite a pleasant surprise. I did not expect it to be this sharp wide open.
Stopping down obviously increases sharpness, but then there are smaller & lighter lenses for that...

I have this lens too, as Spiratone. IQ is decent from wide open, better than expected from such an old massive 135mm lens. Wink

Last batch of pictures from the Soligor 135mm f1.8 (I sold the lens to fund my xf90mm). These were all shot at f1.8. Shot in Jpeg, minor pp and sharpening for web. I think this lens is a very specialized paint brush. Some may call its bokeh nervous, but I think its very painterly.... what do you think?

Maybe it's not the most contrasty lens, but the level of detail and lack of CA at F1.8 is excellent. Perhaps using a lens hood will improve the results a bit, but as-is it seems an excellent portrait lens.

I agree. Though if all lenses rendered similarly, they would become collectively boring....no?
Its just another paintbrush in the light-painters collection, which does something differently enough to make it useful for certain applications.

BTW, there were all on Aps-C sensor. On a FF you will see more of the beautiful bokeh in every shot.
