My new lens is the MF/AF Sony 14/1,8 GM

I'm waiting for it. Perhaps tomorrow it will come.

Thanks. I am interested in comparing it with the Minolta MD Rokkor 85mm f/1.7.

Interesting lenses! The Miranda 2.8/25mm seems to have a pretty similar (=nearly identical) lens section as the Zeiss Distagon 2.8/25mm ...

Thanks, Steve. Do you happen to have the optical scheme of both?

I received this Konica FS with its' standard 50/2. Not a particularly rare lens, the reason I bought the camera is the thing I noticed on the listing, this item has a Copal Square shutter, with internet lore stating the Konica FM was the first to get the Copal Square, making it the second after Mamiyas' Nikkorex to use it. Possibly this one is a later serial # and they actually starting using it somewhat before the next model was released.

Very interesting. I have a early 1961 (the year the Konica FS launched) Copal factory brochure which quite clearly states that the Konica FS is the first camera to use the new Copal Square shutter. The brochure also calls it a pro- type high-synchro shutter which is referenced in the user manual according to Camerawiki. However, even the photo of the camera in the brochure does not show the gold printing of yours, but the serial is not visible either.

On eBay there sold recently another FS with Copal Square printed on the shutter. Serial: 3594815

https://www.ebay.com/itm/402690404300?hash=item5dc237efcc%3Ag%3AqPkAAOSwRHxgJ4F2&nma=true&si=G%252BF2kIF9jgb2lKvs98%252F4WfAW8N4%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Your camera being: 3586306

This listing of a serial later than yours but earlier than the other listing seems to show a different shutter? https://www.ebay.com/itm/393396118243?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338722076&toolid=10001

Serial: 3592627

The Nikkorex was released in 1962 and the shutter also shows the Copal Square print, as does the 1964 Konica FM: https://www.cameraquest.com/nfrex.htm
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/wv0AAOSw9OpfONx5/s-l1600.jpg

So now I think we have definitive proof that the Konica FS did it first. What's not clear is if all Konica FS use the same shutter and why some have the print and others do not. Does the print perhaps wear off with shutter use?

My sample of the Konica FS - which came with the 1.4/52mm lens - also has the Copa Square shutter.

That's definitely interesting information from Copal themselves.

I realised once I received the camera and inspected the shutter, that many of the photos from auction sites showing Konica FS cameras without 'Copal' lettering were actually of cameras where the shutter has been cocked but not released, which looks like this:

Very possibly these cameras have something maybe wrong with them if the shutter cannot be released, or, maybe they were just photographed in that position for no particular reason.

Nice! I got one for $40 but via eBay thrift store seller. So, we’ll see if I get lucky or not. At least shipping was included so I won’t lose much if not good.

It's a nice lens, even at 40 Bucks. But I guess it's even nicer for one. Wink

I'm using 100mm lenses more and more, mostly Rokkors and the Sankor 105 / 2.5 and the excellent Tamron SP 90 / 2.5. And that Takumar is way up my wish list. Mr. Green

I expanded my Prismat collection today with the arrival of another aggregated package from the US. The Argus camera I bought bare, the vendor listed it 'as is' and was part of a listing of 10 cameras, which I asked if they would separate out, and they kindly did so, for $20. It seems to work perfectly. The fairly rare Argus/Mamiya 35/2.8 lens was in the same package, from an Argus collector selling down their collection. It was listed with a frozen solid focus control, for $20. That was quickly fixed with by removing the glass and applying some moderate heat in an oven, and then re-lubricating the helicoid. The 8 blade auto aperture works nicely.
The Tower camera was bought complete from the Goodwill site, for around $80.00, pretty good with the meter attachment included. The aperture required a clean with acetone, but at least there was one, a few you see on ebay have had the aperture completely removed after an unsuccessful attempt to service. The camera worked nicely, have not tested the meter yet.
The Mamiya branded one I received recently from Japan, it's the same camera as the Argus model, with a unique bayonet not seen on any other model. This was sold as an Argus in the US, and as a Mamiya in Japan. It has an advantage over the semi-automatic exakta type, in that the aperture control is fully automatic, stopping down then reopening when the shutter is used. On the other hand, only three lenses were available for that mount, and the Exakta mount models could at least use third party lenses, in full manual mode.
The cameras are quite similar but have miscellaneous differences, for instance around the eyepiece, to allow mounting of the meter, in the placement of the flash sockets etc. The Mamiya and Tower models have a focusing screen with a split type finder, which the Argus does not.

I have heard good things about the imagery from The Mamiya 58mm f1.7
It would be wonderful if you could share some here
Cheers

Congrats! This is indeed very rare. So The 58mm/1.7 without F.C. has the same mount as this 35mm/2.8 I guess? I heard it is a variant of Exakta.

I recently got an F.C. 48mm/2.8, in the same series as the F.C. 58mm/1.7. I also collected an F.C. 35mm/2.8. Very unfortunately due to poor packaging, the filter rim got bent. I am missing the 50mm/1.9 by Canon whose price seems quite high.

Yes, I believe it's optically the same as the 35mm Mamiya-Exakta version, and perhaps also the same as the 35mm Nikkorex Sekor lenses Mamiya provided to Nikon to go with Nikkorex F camera.

Yep, the 58 and the 35mm have the same bayonet mount.

I'd like one of the Canon lenses too, even though I myself am currently pretending to 'downsize' my collection, I have a soft spot for Mamiya stuff.
