Well, there were some people mentioning some blue circle because of the rear flat optics in 52B and 52BB version, anot seen o 72B 1:1 all this in Sony A7,

It is an known phenomenon. Like the Tomioka 55mm 1.4 Most of the time it won't be visible

I haven't tested this one nearly enough, and in all likelihood I won't get to properly until Spring. Still I can tell a few things. It's extremely small and light. The ergonomics are superb. The focus ring in particular is wonderful - very large and smooth as silk. Sharpness seems good so far; it performed well in my landscape test shots at f/8. As expected from an old Fujinon, the color saturation seems to be a strong point.

It's not, however, great for macro. Sharpness at small apertures (f/11 and smaller) is decent, but not great. Also, the minimum focus distance is every bit of the 1.5m on the focus ring, and (as with any lens) you can only extend it so far before you have increasing problems and diminishing returns.

Not that I hold that against it, since it's pushing the lens pretty far outside its design parameters. This is another 135 I expect to perform excellently for portraits, landscapes, and other standard uses. It'll be a few months before I can confirm that though.

My lens for December is the Auto Miranda 200mm f3.5 lens. Bought it today and it shipped today.
Except for the Macron I now have every lens from 25mm to 200mm.

So the Steinheil arrived and its how shall we say, interesting, well at least shot wide open.

Both shot wide open, iso 800, pushed a stop in PP, no other PP. In camera across filter.

Bokeh..

More later..

First shot looks like a still from a '50s brit film noir. You've bought a time traveller.

Fuji 135mm f3.5 is a good lens, but Fuji 135mm f2.5 is better. In fact it is one of my favorite 135s. I have a bayonet version, but I guess the optics are the same.

Quite.. 🤣

Some people probably use a lot of photoshop and plugins for such a look, well hello mystery Japanese lens.. 🤣

Admittedly it was handheld at about iso 800 so it at least deserves a chance in decent light to see what it's really" capable" of.. 😭

Got my last lens yesterday... and went into the garden this morning...
Minolta Rokkor 17 mm f/4 and beautiful flowers on a December 11th!... Global warming

(I reduced the definition, no other correction JPEG format)

I've noticed the 2.5 is a lot more expensive than the 3.5, too! I got my 3.5 for $25...

Not so much a lens, but I've acquired an original Pentacon Six to M42 adapter in zebra finish.

This could be interesting.. 😁

Yes, I can see how that would come in handy!

Mmm... I'd like to see that. Maybe we need a 'What's the latest accessory you added to your collection', thread. I'm forever adding shades, cases, filters, adapters etc, to make these lenses work for me.

Well it means I might be able to offload the P6 Flektogon 50mm f4 I've got an EOS/P6 adapter stuck to for a start.. 😢 Pity being the replacement I got for it is the earlier non MC version..

(any ideas?? , I've tried everything but freezing it tbh..)

On the plus side, it does mean I can try the P6 lenses on the XH-1 (amongst other things) which should be big enough to manage the weight, whereas the previous A6000.. 🤣

Based on having tried everything -

In the 'olden' days, the people with the most experience to give advice would be the adapter manufacturer. There would be a couple of folk in the factory that would be happy to talk all day to you. If you're into motorbikes, you'll know these folk still exist. I suppose today, the best chance would be sole trader camera repairers. I think you're in London, aye? Lyndon Booth at Londinium cameras seems to be a decent bloke, although I've not used him directly so can't vouch. If it needs specialist tools, you may have to bite the bullet and send it in to him, or his recommendation. Still, it means you liberate your Flektogon, and possibly get a working adapter back. In terms of easing the pain on cost if it comes to sending it in, logically, it only needs to cost less than replacement, doesn't it?

That's about the best I can think of mate. Good luck.

The latest lens I added to my stable is for my Pentax 67. It is BIG. The original 400mm f/4 Takumar. This lens kept the same optical formula throughout its production, so I didn't worry really about buying the first version of it. Differences between the original Takumar and SCMT are minor. I'm not sure about front filter size -- maybe 95mm? It has a manual aperture that closes down to f/45. All of the 400s for the 67 had manual apertures, interestingly enough. MFD is a distant 7.5 meters. If I can find a set of outside bayonet mount extension tubes for it, I can improve that number some.

I got it from KEH. They had it listed with their EXC grading, which basically means "mint." It has a built-in hood, which I like, and came with a nice slip-on front cap, but no rear cap. It uses the 67's outside bayonet lugs to mount. I have it sitting on the front cap in the below photo.

That is a behemoth!
I have the 300mm for P67 and it is a handful even on the Pentax 67 camera with film.
I would love to see some images from this one.
Happy Xmouse

Congrats man, that's quite a lump Like 1. And I have to add my name to the list of requests to see some shots from it if you get the chance.

I've been trying to work out the designer, but it's not clear to me. I, illogically, keep wanting to say Mr Kazamaki Tomokazu, without a shred of proof. I'll keep looking now and again, as it intrigues me as to who it was.

Makes guitars, plays a Gibson? Smile

This 37mm prime , M42 mount, MIR-1 was part of a bundle I bought

The photo of the lens is taken with a Helios 44M-4

I am looking forward to trying this out as a street lens with my Sony A6000.

BTW it needs a little M42/L39 adjuster to allow the lens to focus on my Sony / M42 adapter

Could be worse. I bought Les Pauls, but played an Ibanez strat copy.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I haven't used that lens yet. I'll probably load up some Tri-X in the P67, cuz it's so easy to develop B&W film and I can provide results quickly. I don't think I have any 120 B&W left though, so I'm gonna have to go get some. What I want to do to make it more versatile is to buy an adapter for it so I can mount it to one of my 35mm's or to my NEX. That should be a hoot.

About guitars -- yes, I build guitars. But my specialty is classicals -- acoustic nylon strings. I've only "built" one electric, if you can call bolting a neck onto a body building a guitar. It was a Fender Telecaster with a custom baritone neck. The guitar in the photo is a Gibson Les Paul BFG. A nice, but rather curious instrument. Right next to it, but out of the photo is an Ibanez 2355M -- a big body jazz guitar, built in 1977. Behind it, also out of view, is a classical I built. I've got guitars all over the house. It's kinda hard taking a pic in here without there being a guitar in it somewhere.

Congratulations Wink !!

Should be a lot of fun to use it for portraits, but of course you would need some extension tubes ... its depth of field would correspond to a 200mm 1:2.0 lens on 35 mm!! And combining that with the Kodak Tri-X and its beautiful rendering simply should be astonishing. Or am i wrong ...??
