Today I received a Leitz Wetzlar Photar 1:4.5 80mm (macro).

I know what the Photars are but I can find no account of anyone using this one. (The 50mm is probably my best macro lens for the higher magnifications).

About 12 were watching this on Ebay. I let it reach its finish time and be relisted. Then I made an offer, expecting a counter offer but it was accepted.

I hope to try it out during the next few days.

I did try it and here is what happened:

recently purchased a Spiratone Plura-coat 28mm f2

seems to be an odd/rare lens, with very little info available about it online...

Finally, laid my hands on Canon FDn 35mm F2.

The glass is intact, but lens is in need of immediate repair and full service (worn bushings, hard aperture ring, grease haze, lots of dust).
Wish me luck with that.

I wish you all the luck in world. This lens is an absolute PITA and made, as they used to say in the old country, out of crap and twigs. I have one is semi-disassembled state and as of this moment I have no idea how to proceed without high probability of making things worse.

I'd say you were politely downplaying the issue here.

I'll be more blunt: it's an overengineered clusterfuck. I've spent most part of the day servicing it.
Unfortunately front decorative plastic ring was completely seized and eventually shattered like glass Sad
I've glued it back together, looks ugly now.

As for everything else, I've managed to repair it, and put it back together with no leftover pieces.

Heed my warning people: buy FDn's in excellent condition, you don't want to get up close and personal with them.

I just bought a Tamron SP 28-80 27A. A filter was stuck on it due to it being screwed on crookedly.
I was able to remove it, but after I did the lens fell apart. Shocked
Fortunately I could screw it back together and it seems to be working although it focuses beyond infinity.

I love my OM system - I do not have any of those, but, this is a great well put together system. pound-to-pound with the Pentax M series in my humble opinion (I'm pentax-biased).

A standard lens for my Nikomat.
These are still super cheap and such good value - like the Nikomats themselves.

Thank you Edgar and Daniel.
It is a good performer as well.
Works great with film, and I am shooting mostly film these days.

Here are some pictures from the Nikkor-H 50mm on a D700 full frame camera.
The shots were just quick grabs from the garden and I am sure that I could do better if I spent more time at it.

Vivitar S1 70-210 is new for me, and I got a chance to run outside with it as the local race track.

Geees it's a handy bloody lens. Now just to practice so I can actually catch stuff in focus... I appreciate why with this and a ~35ish you could nearly well capture everything you would ever ever want too.

Hi
Yesterday I bought a very nice Asahi Kogaku Takumar, 100mm f3.5, complete with case and both original caps for not a lot of money.
Need to find a M37 to M42 adapter ring now, which unfortunately will cost more than I paid for the lens. Sad

On an auction site I found a Minolta Tele Rokkor 100mm 2.5.
In the seventies I had one, but traded it for a 85mm 1.7. I remember me a nice lens.
I am waiting for delivery now. Hope the best of it!

The earlier [6/5] versions (MC-I, MC-II, MC-X) are slightly less sharp than the later [5/5] versions (available as MC-X, and MD-I to MD-III).

I like especially the MD-III version since it is light and has a built-in double lens-hood. The [5/5] is very sharp over the entire image field, even at f2.5. Stopping down to f4 increases the contrast. Lateral CAs are slightly stronger than with the MD 2/85mm, but nothing to worry about. I prefer this lens over the legendary (and heavier) Nikkor 2.5/105mm.

Thanks Stevemark.
I received the Rokkor 100mm 2.5 in perfect condition.
It is a 5/5 version MD I or MD II with the original lenshood.
Really glad with it!

Just added two Tokina made lenses to my collection.

The Soligor 28/2.8 and the Vivitar Series 1 90/2.5, both in M42 mount!

Just picked up at auction:

1962 Nikkor S 5.8cm F1.4 with original hood and lens cap.

The lens is in excellent condition and has what looks like an early professional AI conversion done. The AI conversion is good for me because I plan on using the lens on my Nikon DSLRs. Have already taken it out a few times and the results seem to be quite unique.

Where were you in '62' ?

That is quite interesting.
Do you have a picture of the lens Pete?
Tom

PS - in '62 I was in my final years of high school Smile

I bought the same lens recently without the conversion though.
