I put it on a 3cm extension tube. Shot at F1.4,2.8,4,8,16 Pentax K-1

Cosina made version of the Tomioka 7/5 55mm 1.4 I was curious if it was similar to a Planar but I guess not. Not one for copying slides and only gets acceptable sharpness across the frame at F16

That 1st shot.....Gosh!

That's quite something. The distortion is quite pronounced.

Yes and distortion is still there at F16 even though it looks sharpish. Also near impossible the focus on the corners wide open. It's just always distorted.

Well, it's clearly not a macro lens.

The reason I tried is because the 5/7 design seems to be related to the Carl Zeiss Planar a 7 element double gauss with 5 groups where the center elements are two doublets. Obviously the lens is not very Planar at macro focusing distances.
