Took advantage of a heavily overcast sky today to test out just how well the Helios 44-2 58/2 KZM shoots on my Sony a65 body. Processed in Adobe Lightroom 6.1.
A few observations:
Very compact and light for an all metal lens.
It is a tad tough to focus wide open. Focuses easily at all apertures - not so with my Takumars.
The declicked aperture ring is useful to speed up rough DoF previews.
Offers its best image quality stopped down two or more stops.
Does not diffract at minimum apertures - not so with all my Takumars.
Needs roughly an extra stop to expose correctly.
Best bokeh is one or two stops down - use wide open for creative OOF bokeh images.
