Guys, does anyone of you experience with using big Trioplan on Nikon?

How long does it maximally focus on and is it anyhow usable for portraits?

What about special adapters made for?

Thanks, Marek

I have the Trioplan and use it on my D700. It can focus to about 5 or 6 meters when set to infinity, i use a cheap M42-Nikon F adapter (no glass in it). It works fine for portrait.

No portraits in the link, but you get the idea.

Nice galleries, Tomas. You may want to correct the spelling of Meyer. I noticed the Samyang 2/135; what do you think of that lens? Maybe a PM or separate thread?

Thanx for noticing the spelling error! There are four threads about the Samyang 135 here, two mine:

and these:

In short i really like the Samyang 135/2, it s really sharp and no longitudinal cromatic abberations (LoCa) the purple green ones, it also has at least some "pop" and in the right circumstances some 3d-ness to the pictures. Bokeh is good but i like the Samyangs 85/1.4 bokeh more. The only thing i don t like is it s color rendering, very warm, see the threads in the links. My copys focusing ring had a coarse feel to it that didn t went away after a month of usage, a few small drops of oil in the right places solved this.

Thank you, so you could kind of recommend the lens for portraits as regards infinity length on Nikon.

The lens doesn t reach infinity on a Nikon body, but when set to infinity the focus will be at 5-6 meters, so someone standing 5-6 meters from you will be in focus but not beyond that. Being a 105 mm lens usually for protraiture the subject will be closer than that, as you of course know. I have also the Helios 85/1.5 and a Biotar 58/2 and although they don t reach infinity on a Nikon body they are still very fun and creative to use. I raccomnd all of them even for Nikon users.
