Hi,
a somewhat stupid question.
I bought a Takumar 50mm f1.4 lens on ebay. It came however without lens cap.
Any idea where can I find one? I do not need the original one at any cost.

Thanks.

Any generic 49mm lens cap will do.
See here:

right, personally I find the most simple design and cheapest the most practical, like e.g this one from Oldhands link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/49mm-Plastic-Snap-on-Front-Lens-Cap-Cover-for-DC-SLR-DSLR-camera-DV-Canon-Nikon-/391232048551?hash=item5b173f4da7

Any 49mm soviet Snap-on cap, like many metal ones branded as "Kiev". Looks almost identical to the original Takumar Caps with the only difference ox text.

As above, any generic 49mm lens cap is fine, style is a personal preference.

To add another strange personal preference, I rarely use lens caps at all, all my common use lenses (like the Takumar 50/1.4, which is always on some camera) has a deep lens hood always attached. I find that it protects at least as well in a bag or in use, and certainly is less trouble.

My favourite generic lens caps look like this:
Matin brand.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Matin-SNAP-ON-LENS-CAP-Front-Cover-with-Cap-Keeper-Strap-49mm-/181686739755
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/49-mm-Professional-Snap-on-Front-Lens-Cap-Cover-For-Filter-Safety-Dust-Glass-49-/370557501304

They are solidly built, I bought a stack of them for my Takumar & Topcor collection, they work wonderfully.

A cheaper, but still good lens cap are these guys:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/49mm-Snap-on-Front-Lens-Filter-Cap-filter-Canon-Nikon-Sony-Pentax-DSLR-Camera-/321491595316
These seem to be solid, and sold everywhere

There seem to be a few similar styles, if you intend to use a lanyard on the cap, I'd avoid the ones that only have one hole visible, the other hole is under the cap and the cord will be pinched against the lens.
