If you have Russian or East German lenses that need to be cleaned/re-lubricated and ARE IN THE USA then I suggest you contact this gentleman who is on E-Bay (100% Feedback) ...
http://myworld.ebay.com/jenstarct
He did four lenses for me that came back focusing much better and with less effort needed- Jupiter, MIR, CZJ, etc.
Simply contact him and then he put's up an item on E-Bay which is actually a service item- you simply "Buy It Now" and then send him the lens.
Turn around is quick, great communication, great service. |

My lenses were $30 dollars (US) plus shipping.
I have 4 lenses he did and it was $120 + shipping.
GREAT communication, sends photo's, even replaced a tiny screw which was no good.
BTW- I don't receive anything other than knowing some folks will enjoy their lens more after cleaning/relubrication. |

Marc seems like a stand up guy. I have been emailing him back and forth. Will be sending out my planar 50mm 1.4 on monday and then followed up with my sonnar 135 2.8
Follow up.
Just got my 50mm planar 1.4 back.. He did an amazing job in cleaning the aperture and epoxying a plastic tab that was broken. He even put a new ball in and threw in a cap for free. I threw in a few extra bucks because I appreciated his dedication to these lenses and his prices are very reasonable.
Highly recommended in every way. |

Two of those lenses he had never worked on... he made my Skoparex "manual" after
i coudn't use my usual method to make a lens manual when there is no A/M switch...
They all came back "as new" !
Fast turnaround, great communication, pictures and feedback all along the process
good packaging and most of all, reasonnable prices....
Real craftsmanship !
NOTE : I have cleaned and lubed many lenses myself.... some, more expensive lenses
i won't take any chances with, and Marc's services are well worth it in mho.... _________________ "Obsta principiis, finem respice"

He also CLA'ed another Schneider-Kreuznach Tele-Xenar 3,5/135 that i had sent him...
They all came back clean and working fine !
He's now working on those two:
a black RE, AUTO TOPCOR 2,8/100 (A lot of fine dust on the inner surfaces. Aperture ring isn't working)
and a Minolta MD W-ROKKOR-SI 2.5/28 (Haze/dust/oil on the blades/yellowed element)
I do beleive i never sent him any junk .... but some lenses were in poor shape and he
managed to bring them all back to a perfectly working state, clean and smooth focusing... _________________ "Obsta principiis, finem respice"

Sorry for the delay...
He's done it again.... They came back fine !
All you Americans out there, shipping to Florida is not very expensive and having your lenses brought back to a "like new" state,
is well worth it....
Out of my 47 lenses (owned while writing these lines) 31 have been completely overhauled...
Marc has done 13 of them and worked on another half a dozen or so that i've sold.... _________________ "Obsta principiis, finem respice"

I have a before picture, but will need to add the after. These were from the seller - and why I got it cheap. It was just as dirty inside.

Does anybody have direct contact info for this person (msg me)? I sent him an inquiry on ebay, which he answered, but only after several days had passed, and then we had several back and forths within a short span on one day as I was hoping to arrange to send him a batch of items to work on, but then in the middle of that conversation after I asked more or less, "ok sounds good, how to proceed?", he did not reply, and then after a couple of days sent him another message, no reply, and now it has been a week and still have heard nothing back.
Lack of communication makes me a bit wary, but he seems to do good work from what I hear. Maybe he is just very busy? |

Like i said, he's the best i've found - as worked on a great many lenses of mine -
and as been a very good communicator before, while work in progress, and after
the work is completed and the lenses are sent back.
He has also been curtious enough to respond to other information inquiry i sent him....
There has recently been health concerns in his family .... _________________ "Obsta principiis, finem respice"

mmm...so maybe he is not even at home and just grabbing computer time here and there. I will wait some more, although if anyone has his direct email (or would forward mine to him as a way of introduction) that would be appreciated. (Again, just private msg me.) |
