Hi,
Tamron SP 01A 35-80mm f/2.8-3.8 is a wonderful lens, it's sharp, capable of close focus, it's compact and really nice to use. It's completely useful wide open, however I recommend stopping it one-two clicks to get properly sharp images. I like how it handles flares, however loses contrast a bit while placing sun in the frame.
I post photos of the lens and several photos from a 2 hours walk in forest. Although I had other lenses with me, I only used this throughout the shooting.
If you have opportunity to buy one of these, don't hesitate. I paid 16£ incl. shipping for this one and while it's not in mint condition, it works fine and has clear optic.
The only downside of this lens for me is focal range on APS-C. I really miss 28mm on the short end, but I've tested other Tamron - SP 27A 28-80/3.5-4.2 (in excellent condition) and while it had great feel, it didn't deliver such nice and sharp photos as the SP 01A.
Lens itself:
And some photos (shot with Canon 600d + PP in Lightroom):
1. f/5.6-6.3
2. f/5.6-6.3
3. f/8
4. f/4.5
5. f/11-16
6. f/3.8-4.5 (closest focus, mushroom was about 8mm high)
7. f/4.5-5.6

I was often thinking about selling my copy, since I have not with it a lot in the last months, even years.
But it is much more worth than the €80,- that it usually is sold for. So, I'll keep it. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

A great collection of samples in this gallery. I love mine, practically on a par with the zeiss vario sonnar 35-70 f3.4. It definitely excels at the long end, particularly close up.
Here are a few from my well used sample on a D810.
