Got this probably a bit rare heavy sharp unique-looking lens recently in great condition...

Along with bunch of other lenses...

And applied on first cool butterfly (moth) I've seen as usual...

By performance, reminds me of Tair 133mm f/2.8 I surprisingly still do own...

Can anyone identify its real market value whatever that means? Seems to be anything but bargain on Ebay. (I know, Ebay is just... Ebay.)

Not being a fan of this type of lenses, I might consider to sell it any time soon Very Happy

I honestly don't know the "real market value" of the m42 Sonnar 2.8/180mm. I bought mine - although in Exacta bayonet - around 2011 for CHF 150.--. I like the lens and use it - adapted to my Sony A900 - quite often for Street Photography:

About 50% of the images linked above were taken with the CZJ Sonnar 2.8/180, the remaining with the Sony Zeiss ZA 1.8/135mm, the Canon FD 2/135 and the Minolta AF 2.8/200mm APO G HS.

Oh yeah, thats one to keep I think.
I have the zebra for P6 and it is superb.
Yours is the more desirable version.

In the US market, $ 150-250 isn't that hard to find, but that includes those zebra types that are more common.
Sometimes really beat up copies can be found under $100.
Condition and accessories are probably very big factors.

Thank you both, after closer examining capabilities of the lens I'm most probably keeping it. Great condition (especially optics) is also a big plus for me.

Of course I lurked for silver one - apparently pretty rare Very Happy

Any idea how old is it? Serial number 4.220.xxx

Look at the Zeiss Jena serial number sticky.
4000000 series is supposed to be 1955-58, which seems correct for the type.

Thank you as usual, I've thought so, but thank you
