I somehow missed the announcement of this lens, which is perhaps good because they now sell a second version with a filter size of 67mm that they labeled "Pro".

I will start with some wide open samples (all taken with the A7II):

And here are a couple of f/4 shots. The first one shows the barrel distortion:

I wrote detailed impressions here, but in a nutshell, I think this lens is a great bargain and a great alternative to the Noctilux and Noktor HyperPrime Cine lenses.

The lens seems nice!

Good IQ wide open, with nice looking bokeh it seems.

Do you know what is the difference between 1 and 2 versions? I mean is there a real difference in image quality?

Besides the filter size increase, they claim improved coating, but it should not make a big difference.

Yes, chromatic aberrations are pretty well controlled and if you nail focus, there is good detail captured in the thin DOF area. I have seen no issue that didn't seem to be shared by the other two lenses with this specification.

The optical formula seems to have remained the same and the filter size increase seems to be just a body change.

Here are the product pages for the two versions, which include pictures of each version:

Version 1
Version 2

The new one has a wider front edge, but the width of the frontal lens element doesn't seem different. They mention the new coating and the bayonet hood mount.

I just got around uploading a few portraits. Here's an example:

Very lovely, not just the lens, but also your skills in capturing and processing the photo. I wish that I can see higher resolution photos, but it seems like this lens has acceptable sharpness at wide open.

You're too kind. I didn't really do much processing, just my regular workflow: I applied a curve, scaled down, and sharpened a little. Guess most of the work was in getting some nice background and catching my daughter sitting still long enough to focus on her.

I just uploaded some unprocessed 100% crops around the areas that I focused on; both from earlier pics and the last one:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/laurentiucristofor/16719945805/

As a reminder, the camera is the A7II with a 24MP sensor and it was set to neutral "creative style", which I imagine is not applying any curve to the capture (or at least I hope that's what it does). I think other reviews with samples were using it on the A7s, so keep in mind the resolution difference if comparing with crops or full size images uploaded elsewhere. Also, make sure to see the original size on flickr - that is the full crop.

Hope this helps.
