I usually make marks where things line up when at infinity, and again with the helicoid where it comes apart, there 3 parts to the helicoid, the inner, outer, and the fine thread, the fine thread needs its own marks and count the turns to remove it.
I use solvent and a toothbrush to clean the helicoid, followed with soap and water with the toothbrush, I also clean the focus ring and aperture ring while I'm at it.
Go easy on the lube, excess will only get pushed out. _________________ A Manual Focus Junky...
