I have a question about the maximum aperture of my Meyer Primotar 50/3.5, M42 mount serial 1988794.
It has an aperture pin and switch for manual and auto mode.
With the aperture set at f/3.5, in either manual mode and auto mode with the aperture pin pressed, in the aperture blades slightly close.
When the aperture is set to f/4 the blades don't really close further.
Is this normal? _________________ DSLR: Canon 6D, Canon 400D

half stop not move count as normal, especially on auto lenses, even a little dust on blades make it , never mind, if works anyway, enjoy. _________________ -------------------------------

Yes, Attila is right - nothing to worry about.
I have the pre-set version and even though the max aperture is listed on the lens as f3.5, it does actually open a little wider than that.
Setting the aperture to f3.5 from the wide open position closed it just a little...... and only a little more for f4
The difference between the two is very slight.
Even wide open it is still quite a good lens
