It is either a mistake or a fake (in order to make the lens rare for collectors). Btw, welcome to the forum!

It is probably a mistake. There was a thread, some months ago, with a similar case ( Nikkor).
To engrave a "R" they probably use a "P" plus an additional "\"

Very good and quite valuable. Rare, especially with the error (which can be fake as well).

Rare and great lens indeed, I have one. Miles better than most lenses from same age and one of the best from Minolta.
