One from Monday night, reasonably warm & a full moon was ideal for trying landscapes by moonlight. Shame the local scenery can't compete with Nordentro's (and that the car wasn't washed).

This is a photo that was taken during the same sequence as the two warbird photos above. It is a single Kodachrome slide that I varied exposure with through a sequence of six digital images to emulate HDR. I used Photoshop's HDR function to bring out the lettering on the side of the aircraft. The Rockwell Intenational P-51D Mustang was owned by Bob Hoover, an expert pilot and star attraction at many airshows across the USA. At the age of 94, he is retired from active flying but he still attends airshows. The following image wound up being very grainy. To control the grain I used the Topaz plug-in for Photoshop. Circa 1985. Canon A-1, Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm f/2.8-3.5, Kodachrome 64.

Hoover was famous for flying a Shrike Aero Commander, a business class twin-engine propeller aircraft, and putting it through a series of aerobatic maneuvers. The last portion of his routine was done with both engines off, including a 16-point roll. I got to see Hoover and his Shrike a few times at airshows, and it was always a treat watching him fly. Here's an old video of his aerobatic routine at Youtube:
