my Zeiss contarex planar need to be open for cleaning its glasses: the procedure was
1) unscrew the outer black ring (red arrow on fig 1 and 2), then the DOF ring can be removed (blue arrow on fig 1 and 2).

#1

#2

2) unscrew the inner alloy ring (green arrow on fig 2) to separate the whole optics block from the focus helicoid (fig 3_a).

#3

3) remove the Zeiss planar ring to clean the outer optic element (fig 4 and 5).

#4

#5

4) if necessary you can unscrew the inner ring to access the entire optics elements for cleaning.
5) remount the optic element and then this to the helicoid aligning the diaphragm lever in the right position
(red arrows on fig 6)

#6

Thank you for sharing. It is so refreshing to see a modern lens produced with traditional mechanics, rather than some of the monstrosities of modern manufacturing that some autofocus lenses are. Nice and simple! No unnecessary glues or special screws or fittings, all just made to be assembled by hand. Like 1 small
