My new toy arrived today, an as new Sony a850. I stuck my favourite Tokina AF 3.5-4.5/20-35 on it, shoved the beercan 4/70-210 in my pocket and went for a walk to the beach to see how it works.
The short answer is I'm instantly in love with it and the classic old Minolta AF lenses work perfectly with it.
These are all with the Tokina 20-35:

I also tried the Minolta AF 1.7/50, sadly the lens wouldn't stop down for some reason, although it works perfectly on my film Minolta AF bodes. I suspect some minor issue such as a bit of oil on the blades. Therefore, these are all wide open:

Cheers guys, these a850s and a900s are becoming quite a bargain now, mine was around 450ukp inc shipping and it is like new, not a mark on it.
I like #11 too and it's a shot I don't think I would have managed to get with my NEX or NX and a manual lens as I had to be fast to capture the moment.
Today I'm going to try out some manual lenses - Schneider Retina DKL ones as that's the only adapter that has arrived so far. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |
