I'd like a longer dedicated macro lens
Is there anything longer than 90-105mm Question

Both Canon and Nikon made MF 200mm Macros. Sigma made MF 180mm I believe.

Another option is to add a Vivitar 2x Macro Focusing Teleconverter to a 90-105mm Macro. Will take a 105mm 1:2 and make it into a 210mm capable of 1:1.

Nikon 200/4 micro
if your pocket is deep enough, Voigtlander 125/2,5

Vivitar Series 1 105mm f2.5 Macro is an 1:1 macro lens. Excellent macro lens. Wink

Very good recommendations Ray!

My last purchase, Vivitar Series 1 90-180/4.5 2:1 macro, is an excellent lens but not very common.

I'm looking for a good copy of that lens in Nikon mount. I have the Vivitar 90/2.5 Bokina and it is the sharpest non-exotic macro lens I own, so I am hopeful for the 90-180 as a sharp macro zoom.

The AI and AI-S version of Nikon 200mm/4 macro reaches 1:2 by itself. The AF-D version of Nikon 200mm/4 macro reaches 1:1.

Canon FD 200mm/4 macro reaches 1:1 magnification by itself. It's excellent.

Not forgetting the vastly overpriced minolta 200/4, why do you need the extra length

210mm Schneider Componon or G-Claron on bellows would be very cheap and effective. Or the Agfa/Staeble Ultragon 210 which is common and dirt cheap.

I am surprised it didn't come up. I recommend Vivitar 135mm F2.8 close focusing which goes to 1:2 at MFD of 65cm.

I have been using this Macro Focusing Teleconverter with my Komine-made Vivitar 90mm 2.8 successfuly for many years now Cool
and can recommend it, too.

I keep hearing good things about the Mamiya 120/4 macro for medium format, http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1313992
The CV 125 APO keeps calling my name.

I just picked up the Olympus 50 3.5 and have gotten some super images with my canon EOS 60D, I know olympus is highly regarded, anybody have experience with the 135 3.5 auto-macro?

The 135\ 4,5 lenshead needs the continous extension ring, or the bellows, in order to be mounted & to focus properly. Its built in helix is for fine tuning focus. Olympus states that it is "designed to provide optimum performance around the 1/5 lfe size magnifications level".

On my ancient OM equipment it worked OK from infinity to the tube max subject magnification of 0,43. On digital I find that my 100mm (from another system) which goes from infinity down to 1:2 and is very good at all distances is enough for my infrequent use of close focus. I still use the OM-bellows for digitizing old slides, but with enlarger optics. Quicker than scanning.
