Shot on Canon 6D.
First two wide open, third around f/4, I think.

Not the sharpest and most contrasty lens, but it does quite give the characteristic ring bokeh.
Second shot was low in contrast as it suffered from the direct sunlight.

I own this same one lens and I'm going to try it on the Fuji X-M1. What I've seen from your shots and Klaus ones pushes me to try it harder, it was sitting in the drawer since long.
I'll post mine in short.

Allow me to disagree: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kds315/sets/72157647498715330/
but it might be that you have an older, uncoated version (which I also have). This latter one fits your description.

I already noticed quite some surprising and outstanding shots on your Flickr.
Which shot did you shoot wide open?

Maybe I have to test it a bit more thorough but it has been quite soft wide open, but significantly better from f/4.

I must say I did take it apart to clean the dirty aperture blades, and cleaned some of the elements with alcohol, but surely put everything rightly back in place.

Here is another shot wide open (on my Canon 6D), only adjusted the exposure in LR, no sharpness added.

100% crop

My copy has serial number 2262352, which should date from between 1955 and 1960.
It has the "1" in the triangle.
Might it be single coated?

This is mine:

(Seen by itself on a mirror):

On the EOS-M:

And some quick and dirty shots: (wide open)

A pity I arrive so late back home, (no outside shots possible today). But it looks really promising.
Thanks for showing up the potential of this lens! Smile

Your copy looks just like mine, except for the red V.

The shots show already quite some sharpness. I'm curious to see more daylight shots!

Not sure what the red V does mean here...

Now some daylight shots but this time on the Fuji X-M1.

Wide open has a bit of flare around the edges:

But closing down a couple of stops gets muuuuch better:

Last tests would have to be on the EOS 5D and MFT.

I will agree with Klaus on this one. My 2.9/50 Altix version is sharp from f2.8 when I hit the focus right. It will display some glow at wide open at very bright spots. This photo shows wide open performance and the glow...

Yes, it should be really sharp in any case, coated or uncoated - this differs only in higher contrast the coated version ("red V" - vergütet aka coated) has (and some less glow around edges). I have a feeling you got a dud...
