Hello everyone !

I'd like to show you a few samples from this great lens.
It's very sharp wide open, great contrast but you must be careful not to point it directly into light source. You will get some nasty flare/haze (1st sample). All images were shot wide open.

What camera did you use? Nice bokeh and colors, I have to get this beast. Smile

I have used my C/Y Sonnar T* 2,8/180mm MM, first on my CONTAX RTSIII and CONTAX AX (with AF!) for years, and than later adapted to my CANON 5DMkII, and now sucessfully adapted to my SONY A7! The 180mm glass performs also very well with the excellent C/Y Zeiss MUTAR II converter = 5,6/360mm!

I never saw a silver one. But there is a silver russian Jupiter-6 which i think is a Sonnar copy.

Silver one ?
I don't think there is one, but maybe you were thinking about the Jupiter-6 2.8/180 ?

Jupiter-6 left / Sonnar 180 right ("starwars" version).

That's an entirely different lens. Sonnar 180mm/2.8 for medium format cameras, Pentacon Six and similar. Also a good lens but much too big and heavy to be used on small format cameras in my opinion. It came in this zebra finish and later a newer all black version.

Miran whats an entirely different lens? This thread is showing sample images shot with a
Zeiss Jena Sonnar 180mm f/2.8. Cobb what version do you have? Cause the Thread didnt
say Olympia? So Im assuming its the Pentacon 6 version. Olivier also posted a photo of an
earlier Pentacon 6 version, next to his Jupiter-6.

Yes its a heavy lens, obviously to use this lens.. it should be on a tripod.. it works fine
on my Fuji X-pro1 (with a tripod). In my opinion I think the p6 lenses work great on smaller
formats. My Flektogon 50mm f/4 P6 is one of my fav lenses to shoot with on my X-Pro1. I also
plan on picking up the Zeiss Jena 80mm Biometar which is also P6 mount.

I have the Zebra version with the original lens hood and P6 + M42 mount. It's not a bad lens, but I've yet to find a use it other than flowers (for which I have too many lenses already).

However, having dug up some samples from a while back, I guess I should use it more!

This thread turned into lens porn. Smile Btw. all versions look great, especially the old Olympia Sonnar.
