Hi

I bought a used Biotar 75/1.5 in M42 mount. When I turned the focus ring, I noticed a gap was created the more I turned the ring (see image). Eventually, I couldn't turn it back because the screws reached the end of the slide. I need to loosen the screws, reassemble the lens. If I focus too far again, the same happens as before.

I did not find a way to fix this, no matter how I reassemble the lens.

I believe perhaps a part is missing (a metal ring) that would cover the gap and also prevent the lens from getting into that position.

Is there anyone familiar with that lens who can help?

Regards,
Mike

Brave man to fix by your self an ~ 1000 USD lens, I doubt you will get proper answer. Don't you have any professional repair man in your country ?

I didn't pay 1000 USD for it. Bought it in a bundle with 5 other lenses (2 more Zeiss) for less.

All I did was to unscrew the 2 large screws and the the two metal rings. Actually, they came off by themselves almost.

The idea is to fix it without fully disassembling it, but if that is not possible I will send it to some German Zeiss specialist. Do you know a repair shop in Austria who can repair this?

Unless someone wants to buy it as seen here and have a go at the repair.
