Some quick shots from a short trip to central Italy: we stayed only three days but we wandered around a lot, as we were with friends that didn't know the area (Siena and Perugia provinces). There was a great international bikers' meeting nearby, so we saw many bikes of all kinds.

First stop, Pienza:

1 - Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/85 AEG

2 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

3 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

Montepulciano:

5 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

6 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

7 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

Cetona:

8 - MC Mir 24N 2/35

9 - MC Mir 24N 2/35

10 - Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.7/50

11 - Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.7/50 MMJ

Bagni San Filippo, an incredible place: in a wood, water from thermal springs mixes up with a small stream creating warm ponds of water rich in minerals. Also, the thermal water dripping from the hill created a couple of incredible structures of white limy flowstone where people sunbathe or take thermal showers.

12 - Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 4/20

14 - Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 2.8/135 AEJ

Castiglione del Lago:

16 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

17 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

18 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

And, since it wouldn't be Tuscany without steaks: a healty, veggie lunch

19 - Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/28 MMJ

There are some very nice pictures here. Can you tell us anything about the rock formation in Nos. 13-15?

Thanks Attila, that's the best thing to hear about my "tourist" sets.

Thanks.
As far as I know, these are limestone layers originated from sedimentation of the abundant minerals in the water flowing from the thermal springs. Over the centuries, layer upon layer, these white giants (called with names like "the glacier" or "the white whale" by locals) formed and became the most characteristic landmark of the area.
What probably is not easy to guess from the pictures is how bright that stone is: it reflects sunlight so strongly that getting a correct exposure was more complicated than it could seem.
There is another big one, but it is inside a big private spa, and it is not accessible for non paying visitors.
