I just love this lens, it's really versatile, works well for macro, portrait and as a walk-around lens. I rated the FP4 at 100 and developed in Fomadon LQN diluted 1:20 for 8mins at 20C.

Ian, you convince me there are other zooms, not only Vario-Sonnar and Angenieux. Thanks for sharing!

These old Minoltas are incredible bargains, very cheap, most of them very common to find for sale and the performance is really top level. I have collected quite a few and these ones are all really great:

4/35-70
4/70-210
3.5-4.5/28-85
3.5-4.5/35-105
4.5/100-200

Those are all from the original 'beercan' generation introduced in 1985, later series are a mixed bag, still some superb lenses but also some not so good ones, the quality became cheaper and less good over time so generally, the older ones are better.
