Hello.

I have 500mm/F6 reproduction lens. It is big and heavy, has no aperture and no use on DSLR. I have an idea. Since it is double gauss design, what if I take front element from it, and fit it as front element for DSLR double gauss lens, say Helios-44 ?

As it's known, front element of helioses is somewhere around 120mm, and rear one reduces it to 58, about 2x times. So I'll have resulting 300mm lens, when changing the front element, but what will be the F number? 6 again? or 3, since rear element also acts as speed booster?
