Not a very common lens, and this one even carries both the Chinon name as well as the Tomioka name. It's not mine, unfortunately, but a good friend has let me use it so i can present some results to you!
I really like it a lot, it's nice on my 5D (full frame), it does not need a lot of PP, it's contrast is superb, these pictures are tweaked just a bit, but no sharpening or added contrast, just some curves and color correcting!

First some wide-open performance, second pic is an extreme crop of the first:

No, the mamiya sx 21mm/4 is a more compact design. the sx is an excellent lens btw.

nice results but I wouldn't pay $1000 for one, there are alternatives for less.

Seller can ask 1000000000 USD, just no taker, this lens value around Flektogon and lens probably worst than Nikon, Minolta etc. I rate this lens between 400-500 USD

I followed some acutions for this lens in the last two years, as I was really interested (and the pictures here show why, btw), and i'd say $1000 is a bit unrealistic: it's good and uncommon (available under different brands, btw, such as Swiss reseller Admiral) but I wouldn't consider it for more than € 250-300 - price at which some are sold.

Anyway it looks like a good lens, very nice samples.

Thank you all for commenting!

It is a good lens, no doubt about it. But i think the price is more or less based on collectible value, it is a rare find after all. Whether or not people spend amounts like this on a lens depends on their own need to keep their LBA feelings quiet i guess! Wink

It's a great lens, sculpting its subjects, so to say, but it's difficult to control shadow contrast. The colors are clear and bright; resolving power is high in the middle and thru most of the image field.
