If you want a good but cheap 300mm, look for a Russian Tair-3. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

Or for peanuts, a Tokina preset 300/5.5 (Hanimex, Soligor etc.) _________________ Graham - Moderator

Tentative TX mount exclusive to Vivitar. Perhaps if we could see more of the mount... _________________ ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮ like attracts like! ☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮☮

Uh, OK. But, back on the topic of the OP:
Seeing the bidirectional aperture settings I'm hoping T4 or TX.
Does anyone disagree and think this lens has a fixed mount? |

Many thanks for that!
I would post more photos if I had them. I don't.
Will just have to await arrival and hope for the best.
The suspense is part of the fun!

Yes, it's T4 or TX. |
Gosh, that's great news!
Have to say that's one cockamamie adapter on that thing! I've not seen the like of it.
ETA
Prob'ly should have mentioned earlier, except did not see as germane here.
Regardless FWIW: this is an automatic lens.

Sorry, yes agree with the others that it's a Tokina TX/T4. Good luck! _________________ Graham - Moderator

No bigee. Many thanks appreciate hearing your opinion.
Now OT:
Attila has commented on (what I now think is) this lens, here:
http://forum.mflenses.com/vivitar-300mm-f5-5-tx-mount-t1937,highlight,%2Bvivitar+%2B300mm.html
I agree with Attila's comment. I bought the lens for less than his stated value, and given copy to copy variation on these things and the fact this is, after all, Tokina, I thought it was worth taking a flier. |
