congrats.
I like my copy too.
It flares a bit, but use without filter should be ok. Direct sun light does have some reflection internally.
Also a bit barrel distort at wide end.

It was one of my first MF lenses and I used it a lot on a Nikon D80. Very good all-round lens for crop format camera, you won't be disappointed. FF (Nikon D700) shows the lens's weaknesses at the edge of the frame.

I have one as well! But no hood... need to see what i can fit on it without getting some severe vignetting, i took some shots with it on my 5D and it needs a hood when outside!

I've read somewhere that a Canon 28-105 EF-USM hood will fit, anyone tried this?

I've one as well, which I use with my Contax bodies. I like it, even without the hard to find hood. Quite sharp and the colours seem pretty rich when the sun is out of shot. Never tried it on a DSLR tho'

It's a lovely lens, particularly on full frame Smile

That's a quite handsome looking lens. I didn't realize it was a rare one, though.

I wonder how it stacks up against the old Vivitar Series 1 24-48mm f/3/.8? Since it's an "SP" my guess is that it's as good as, and perhaps even better than the old Vivitar S1. I have the Vivitar, but it's in Canon FD mount, so it's of little use unless I'm shooting film. But I have 24, 28, 35, and 50mm FD primes, so it doesn't get much attention, even when I am shooting film.

Still, I have a decent Tamron collection and I wouldn't mind adding that zoom to it.

Never ever seen this one, looks verry nice build. But the wide angel zooms are tricky

Nice shots Graham, too cold here to get out and shoot.

Hi Michael, evidently only beaten by Nikon but only just.Easily flares even with hood(very rare to find) but I want to use it for flora in soft light, can't wait for better weather.
