I'm thinking of making a macro ring "flash" from one of these any thoughts? I think the 12volt supply may be the hard part to do and keep portable.

I suppose lighting power will weak , purchase first a Led powered lamp on flea market and try it. If you are lucky sometimes on Ebay ring flash show up for reasonable price.
