Any thoughts about this lens?

Much better than its little brother 4/35 Eurygon. The color rendition is neutral with nice bokeh IMHO. Sharpness is good from wide open.

It's a very hard to find lens, and you're probably lucky if you ever spot one "in the wild".

No personal experience using one, but this might give you some idea about its performance: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/RODENSTOCK+EURYGON+30MM+F2.8/

Photos look sharp corner to corner, but there is noticeable light fall off in the corners in many photos. I think the bigger attraction is that it is rare and cool looking.

It is not as rare as you think. This lens showing up from time to time in M42, Exa and DKL mount. The real problem is to get one in decent price without separation issues....

It may not be technically rare, but I've yet to see one in person, offline, in contrast to the wide angles from Enna, Isco, Schacht, Schneider, et al. They also always seem to have asking prices twice as high as any of their W. German contemporaries when they do show up online. Perhaps they're just less common in the U.S. than in other parts of the world.

I see two each month in this Sep and Oct in US eBay. Usually, they sold for about $600 (with slightly separation) to $900(without separation issues). I hope it will be more affordable because it is the fastest ultra-wide for 35mm SLR at its time.
