I have a Hoya HMC 24mm f2.8 with stuck aperture blades. AFAIK, it's a Tokina made lens, probably a rebadged SL24. Can someone tell me whether I need to open the lens from the front or the rear to access the blades?

I've done a 28. You go from the front and it is surprisingly easy to access. The aperture is not a self-containing unit, so you'll need to reassemble it, but it's not too difficult. However, you also will probably need to remove the mount to disconnect and reconnect aperture return spring.
