Its a low rent streadycam. Probably quite effective within certain parameters. I think the detailed images supplied on ebay give enough material to provide plans to make your own.

They do work on a small body/lens combo. I use one of these with an NEX and usually a 50mm.

I suspect that anything heavier would get tiring quite quickly, and I may add a wrist brace help out if I'm shooting for a while.

Adding a Silicone jar opener for focus follow works a treat.

It works more as a smoother than a stabilizer, i don't think it will have much impact on avoiding motion blur on a still, while it will surely make accidental shakes more smooth - and then pleasant - on video.

This model is suitable for very light cameras, and, in my experience, needs the camera to be quite balanced, so a nex is ok, but not with heavy/big lenses.

I doubt it would do a damn thing for stills. I've never honestly tried. Mine is for shooting footage, usually where I'm walking down a dark wet tunnel somewhere sane people don't venture.

It gives full grip to hold your camera. I am using it and felt comfortable
