Hello All. I just ran across an old Soligor lens and am curious if anyone knows something about the serial number. It looks like an older lens and the Soligor name is in the, sort of, script type lettering and has the serial # No (with underscore beneath the o) - WL - 1569. just like that, with the dashes between the letters and numbers. Very curious about this serial # and who made it and when it was made. Down near the mount, which is claimed and appears to be M42, it says "Lens Made in Japan". Any information or informed guesswork? Thanks.

Interesting.
A picture will help as sometimes the way that the lens is made and looks, can help in identification

If the sn starts with T, it was assumed it is Tamron made. Yours is probably not, from the description. I have recently seen a similar one and was wondering as well.

I happen to have a 180mm Soligor lens in that same "WL" series. It is the only such "WL" lens I own. |

I agree, but I don't have pics, as I saw it in a second-hand store.

Actually, the lens I saw is a 180 3.5. do you know who made and when? I also have one of the more common Soligor 180 3.5s with the "belled out" front optic part of the barrel. Can you give me your opinion of your lenses performance? Perhaps that will help me decide if I will go back and get it. Maybe post an image or two taken using your lens? Thank you.

Sorry, no photos. I bought the lens quite a while back. I remember I liked it and found it unusual. Would not pay more than circa twenty bucks, though. It's a collector's item in my view . . . uncommon enough to be. |

Thanks for the info, guardian. I was hoping to hear tales of one of those obscure gems that you're lucky to stumble upon, occasionally.

I've got a Hanimex Tele Lens 180 / 3.5 pre set on my desk that I think is a Tokina, also seen as a Soligor and it's a great lens, one of my favourites.
