Today was a good day....
I already own a RE Auto-Topcor 100/2.8
and a couple of days ago, i received my black RE TOPCOR 28/2.8
Recently I sold a bunch of lenses, so today i bought some more Topcors :
RE Auto-Topcor 35/2.8
RE Auto-Topcor 5,8/1,8 and
RE GN TOPCOR M 50/1.4
Some i've read about and others, like the 50/1.4, i have no idea... and have a tough time getting info
Once i get them all I'll show you the lenses
and once i get the 3rd party M42 mounts and proceed with surgery (non-destructive)
I'll try to get some decent shots from them to share ... eventually.....
Your opinions and/or experiences with any of them are more than welcome. _________________ "Obsta principiis, finem respice"

Your RE Topcor 28/2.8 is the later, Cima manufactured lens. It would be interesting to compare it with an original RE Auto Topcor. _________________ In Search Of "R" Serial Soligors

I'm skimming through some information all over the net and it seems
that this RE Topcor 2.8/28 was introduced in 1971, right at the end of
the Topcon RE Super production. And is, in fact, an original....
That why they're not that common. They were produced in chrome and
black, but mostly in an all black enamel version.
Later in 1977, they produced the RE200 camera and lenses where designated
RE Topcor N. They eventually merge with Cima around 1979 and close there
camera production in 1981.
Cima lauch the Cimko LS-1 system and RM300 camera and by that time were
calling lenses AM Topcor and these were produced with K mounts.
The later Cima produced lenses are not designated "RE" and do not come in Exacta/Topcor mounts.
I would like to eventually get my hands on a book :
Marco Antonetto, Claudio Russo (1997). Topcon Story. Nassa Watch Gallery Collector camera publishing. ISBN 88-87161-00-3.
It seems Topcon as short but interesting story. _________________ "Obsta principiis, finem respice"

The RE Topcor you have illustrated is the 1977 Cima made type for the RE-200 and RE-300 cameras. It bears Cima's characteristic diamond outline witness mark for distance and aperture. I have this lens wearing the Cimako trademark and in Canon FD mount.
The black finish RE Auto Topcor introduced in 1971 bore the characteristics of the earlier, chrome finish lenses except for being finished in black. Essentially it would be like the 100/2.8 RE Auto Topcor you have illustrated but in black finish.
The RE Auto lenses used the ribbed rubber focus grip, the Cima made RE Topcors used the pyramid pattern rubber focus grip.
Here's a link to a Japanese site that chronicles Topcon cameras and lenses. Pages one and five are most pertinent to this thread. The English translation of the Japanese text is poor and difficult to understand.

Even if the optics are no more than the bottoms of pop bottles, the RE Auto Topcors are mechanical works of art. More beautifu, IMO, than their counterparts from any other Japanese manufacturer. I own several Topcon cameras and lenses including the RE-200 with the late RE Topcor normal and two Korean made "Carenar" lenses. Of the "Genuine" stuff I have an RE Super, RE 2, 35/2.8, 58/1.4, 58/1.8 and 135/3.5 RE Auto Topcors. I briefly owned the 25mm RE Auto but sold it at huge profit .
All of the pre 1977 stuff is worth tracking down if you can find it at a reasonable price. Wonderful to use.
A bit of trivia: The RE-200 and its lenses were not the first products Topcon "bought in". The 87~205 RE Auto zoom was produced by Sun with Topcor styling characteristics.
