Hi,
I have this lens. It's in beautiful condition, but focus ring is very stiff.
Is it hard to disassemble it and re-lube it?
Is there any tutorial out there?
Thank you very much for your help.
Kind regards,
Luis |

If you want to use this lens yourself, then take it or send it to a Specialist to do the job.
If you want to sell it, then you can sell it this way for lower value, or repair and sell.
a specialist has all the right tools to do this the best way _________________ Canon 6D + Mir 24, SMC Tak 50 f1.4, 135 f2.5 V2, Tamron SP 90mm f2.5 52B, mcMTO 500 8, Canon IS USM 75-300 4.5-5.6, zeiss ikon talon 85 f2.8 |

East German lenses of the late were designed by mad scientists. They use weird parts (example: Sonnar MC 180/2.8 uses a cable to pass disphragm actuation movement) that aren't easy to put back together. I disassembled more than a handful of lenses, and East German ones (late designs) always seem to have more moving parts than necessary. They, for example, would use 2 or 3 loose parts where a Nikkor would use a single fixed one. _________________ List of lenses |

I suggest what Smoli say, if you have no idea how to do it better to not do by your self, valuable pretty rare lens , better to not ruin it.
I did fix a couple of lens by myself at the beginning, Sonnar 200mm was one of the first what I did clean from fungus, it has logical construction easy to re-lube it, but... grease is matter and good grease is expensive, finally price will be not less really than if you take lens to an expert and expert fix it. You need also tools, lens spanner wrench , title ring remove etc. _________________ -------------------------------

True, I just lost a whole day on a '70's Tessar, and still have a couple of parts hanging around - but that was infested with fungus and a lens with no high value.
In your case, I'm with Attila and Smoli: a professional service is the way to go. _________________ C&C and editing of my pics are always welcome

I guess you're all right.
I've opened, cleaned and re-lubed a few lenses before, but none had the value this one has, so I better don't play with it or I may regret myself.
If I had a service manual, an youtube vídeo or something, I believe I could do it, but... I may also need some more specialized tools, which I don't have... |

Not sure if it's too late to reply
But there was a thread on this way before you posted this - http://forum.mflenses.com/czj-200-2-8-sonnar-opening-for-greasing-pictorial-t33437.html |
