T mount a good lens , lightweight , sharp from wide open. I am amazed, shoots were taken by my friend Wilhelm all handheld in not so good light. I never got better result with 500mm inexpensive lenses.

Nice samples.

It just amazing that you can handhold a 500mm on a nex.
I found 200mm is already beyond my limit.

Oh wasn't me shoots was taken by my friend he was pro nature photographer to many years.
National Geographic did make contract to him to photograph local wildlife, but even with all experience wasn't easy had to make 3x more shoots to get these.

Looks difficult to nail focus, no surprise there though.
Pretty good results really. Smile

This isn't the mirror lens, is it? I have no luck with mine, I think I'll have to send it to someone who understands telephotos.

No look again and count this is an 500mm lens , some of them soft may due long focal length and handshake some of them sharp really.
In my experience I never see better result with 500mm lens what cost under 1000 USD, don't count mirror lenses.

That was my first thought too, although this is still very decent for such a cheap old lens Smile Gotta love the old Soligors!

By the way, I own the Soligor 500/8 mirror lens and it's absolutely awful! The lens Attila has here is a lot better Smile

It may well be decent for a cheap old Soligor. I have none to compare it with.

The lens might be sharper on a tripod.
Handheld on a nex is like asking to have blurry photos Very Happy

I tried to use the tamron 55bb on nex without one single usable photo.
also tried on the K5 without SR: not usable until 1/4000s.

It's less shake problem in close ranges, but dof is thin that the results look oof anyway.
These results are far way beyond my skill.

+1 about the 500mm mirror, but the Soligor 300mm mirror is decent Wink
