Nothing special about this lens, it's not even the f/2.4 variant, but it's still my favourite. For a while it's been almost glued to my camera. It's not the best lens in the world but somehow manages to produce photos I like more than those made with most others. Regarding sharpness, at infinity focus it does benefit from stopping down to f/4 and then some more to f/5.6 but at close focus it's sharp enough even wide open. What I love about this lens is the MFD, just around 18cm! Contrast is low but can easily be added in post as much as necessary, colours are noticably warmer than most other lenses. Sun in or close to the frame is a problem. I have a hood but it's not big enough, I need to find a bigger one.

Carl Zeiss glass is Carl Zeiss glass, whatever the f-stop. Very Happy

I've neglected this lens a bit in recent times since concentrating more on my Minolta collection, but it's still a good one. And now I have a Lens Turbo to put it on, so it's double the fun! Smile
