These are the first samples from any Volna I've ever seen and they look very impressive to me. Are all Volnas in the same class or are the sample variations as great as with Helios lenses?

i've tried only one Volna-9 lens (this one), but it has reputation to be quality lens . only declared russian macro lens,as far as i know. there is also industar 61 L/Z that is sharp and has short minimum focusing length and can be used as a macro.

as for lens copy variation, russian makers were notorious for sketchy quality control

My volna is as good as that, and I would use it more except I have too many at that focal length (but cannot bear to part with any).

I'm impressed with that lens, and as ever, your pictures. I like to lenses tested in real world conditions. That's another for my 'buy it when I see it' list. Rolling Eyes
