Act like a normal lens, I just turn off mirror and focusing like with any lens. Mirror housing was useful for RF it has contax mount but did come with Leica adapter too.

A little haze inside ?
Lovely thing.
I was thinking of a visoflex for a nex, same idea as this.
Maybe too much trouble.

I think glass is oxidized, haze right. No much reason to use today, Flektoscope house, rather self item, historical piece.

Does anyone know how to use this lens without the flektoskop?

I looked at this online, and it looks like it was originally part of a 'direct mount' . If the lens block was removed from the flektoskop housing could it be usable?

You would need to have an extension tube of appropriate length (and solidity!) - the lens unit has its own focusing mount. Not something you're likely to find easily on eBay Wink

I'm having trouble figuring out if the original pre war sonnars are of a different diameter. The filter size in mm isn't the same as the rear threaded part I suppose.

Any skilled technician able to make proper tube to any camera I think

PostPosted: Wed Feb 10, 2016 8:31 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Attila is right - I'm sure the best way would be to send the lens to a technician of known competency and let him (or her) do the job for you. If the lens is in good condition I'm sure the cost will be worthwhile.

Thanks for the help . I most likely will not damage or try to anything to the original flektoskop . Seeing as it's intended for a rangefinder camera It won't see too much action .
I unscrewed the main lens part to measure it and it looks like a simple threaded 77 or 78mm . Does anyone know any people that could construct a 77mm to 42mm type extension ? Any names or companies are welcome

I live in the United States.

I searched for metal fabricators, and custom metal companies, but no luck yet.

Man I wish Zeiss kept some extra parts lying around from the 1930s!!

Well the lens I believe works, It just needs a custom attachment. What would you say a good estimate on what a place would charge for something like that?

I was curious but do you think, this could work?

I normally construct attachments like that from old lens parts, you could pick up a whole bunch of cheap/broken zooms and strip them down till you find something that could work.

The other option would be to start contacting some engineering firms in your area but that threading is very fine and I would rekon it won't be cheap to have something made to spec.
