Press and hold down the silver tab and twist the ring in the O (open) direction. Pull the adapter straight out.. _________________ In Search Of "R" Serial Soligors

First TX mount lens I bought, the mount had probably not been unlocked since new. Just hold the body of the lens firmly and holding the knurled mount ring with the silver tab depressed, put some effort in and it should turn a little way in the o direction. Good luck

That is indeed a T4 lens...you can tell by the the straight line grips on the rings....the TX line were a cross-hatch pattern....
The mount could be a TX mount, only identifiable by removing the mount and examining it...
A TX will be marked TX and a T4 has no identifiable mark...it is however designed and manufactured noticeably different.
The T4 and TX mounts are similar in appearance on the out side, but their internal workings are different, scroll to botton of page>....http://rick_oleson.tripod.com/index-99.html
The TX mount has the additional linkage to permit open-aperture metering. You can use a T4 mount on a TX lens, but not the other way round.
Didn't collect as many TX and T4 lenses as Casual Collector or Big Dawg....but did manage to collect most of the TX line.
There were two TX versions of the 90-230 of which I have both...the first version was like the T4 line and a second close focus version
The first version was made in the T4 line and later in the TX line.
Here's a shot of some of the longer focal length zooms and primes.
All Tokina built TX lenses( with the exception of one Kiron built 85-205 on top left which is a standard mount)
Bought two to three or more copies of each lens and kept the best of each one.
Back Row L-R:85-205/3.5 Close Focus Standard Mount,300/5.6 TX,400/5.6 TX,75-260/4.5 TX,90-230/4.5 TX,90-230/4.5 Close Focus TX
Front Row:70-150/3.5 Close Focus,75-205/3.5 Close Focus,35-105/3.5 Close Focus TX,100-300/5 Close Focus TX,100-200/4 Close Focus
By being diligent on ebay also picked up over a dozen extra TX mounts, mostly Nikon F mounts because I used to be primarily a Nikon 35mm shooter....
Also picked up a few extra TX Olympus,Pentax and M42 mounts for the few Olympus and Pentax bodies in my collection. _________________ Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...." And then do it. |

If you plan to pursue the TX line and have need of more TX Minolta mounts....PM me with your address and I'll send a couple since I no longer have any Minolta bodies.
The best of the TX line were the primes. The following is a list of the sharpest TX lenses.
24/2.8
28/2.5
28/2.8
35/2.5
135/2.5
200/3.5
The following primes from the TX line aren't quite as sharp as the above TX primes...but for someone on a budget will give workable lenses at these longer focal lengths at bargain prices.
OK wide open, stopping down a couple of clicks is better.
300/5.6
400/5.6
Nothing to write home about wide open, but OK stopped down one or two clicks.
600/8
Useable wide open, better stopped down a click or two.
