Some films I call "unscannable" with an Epson flatbed i.e. you can get too many problems.......this roll of Agfa confused my V750 in giving over saturated results and colour casts. I have a 2nd scanner 4180 photo and will try that (as the V750 might be having an off day).

Laughing The Epson 4180 for Ł3.50 is giving better/easier results than a V750 but don't like the grain, I haven't sharpened this properly but I should get better results from a Pentax 24-35mm zoom...so either it was crappy dev or the film.

Epson 4180 scan

Thanks..but how a picture sometimes doesn't tell the whole story as if I had swung the camera around it would have shown a motorway which would have made Robin poop his pants Laughing

Laughing

I've just seen another clue about this Agfa film:- on the bottom of the plastic film container is stamped "hope"..well I have Fuji superia 200 and Reala 100 both expired at 2007 and they either have "hope" or "Hope2" on the bottom also. So if anyone has bought Fuji c200 or Fuji superia recently (i.e. fresh) it would be interesting to know what is stamped on the bottom.
erm so who would assemble cassette, film and container, erm maybe all sent to China Wink

Maybe the plastic containers are made by the "Hope Plastic Film Container Co." for film company clients. Wink

Any chance of seeing an unsharpened version of the wheat field shot?

Plastic containers? I've run out of Kodak film to check, and have no Ferrania film.

I think I prefer the colour rendering of the 4180.

I just found a plastic container with "Hope" on the bottom, under the recycle symbol, but I can't remember which film it contained. Confused

Well there is always hope you'll find another one Wink

BTW went back to the same spot today with two cameras, one with Agfa and one with superia 200 and the wheat field shot should be more straw coloured i.e. it's too yellow sorta like this one taken with a taK 35mm f3.5 a few years ago
Tak 35mm f3.5

Scan from 4180 nothing ticked no PP warts and all:-

Thanks for taking the time to do that Excalibur, I see not much difference at all between sharpened and unsharpened. I wonder if there are rolls from different production lines, ie: C200 and Superior, making it into the Vista packaging, as your roll seems to have quite pronounced grain compared to mine. My rolls are all 24 shots and I am guessing it is different stock to the 36 shot rolls.

Well I was wondering if Fuji had old film stock to get rid of and thought the "hope" on the plastic canister bottom might be a clue to it date. But for me this agfa is a problem on both scanners as for the easier 4180 scan I then found it difficult to change the yellow wheat to straw colour in Photoshop without upsetting all the other colours Shocked
Anyway the next Agfa roll is going to Asda and I'll see from these extra results if Agfa is for me.

Using some of my favourite lenses, I have a further puzzle as a supermarket produced better results with dev and scan on another agfa film and eliminated the suspicion that the film is crap. Still to come are the same shots with Canon lenses on superia 200asa, but I'll give the thumbs up for this film at Ł1 a roll for 36exp and probably get about 30 rolls for testing lenses and backup when I can't use Reala or Superia

Hex28mm 2nd roll of Agfa

Hexanon 40mm 2nd agfa vista

Pano from either Hex 28mm or 40mm, agfa vista

Hexanon 28mm 2nd asta vista

That's unbelievable! The difference is amazing.

ps: someone told me that Morrisons are selling "Fuji 400" at 99p! That was about a week ago, so may no longer be current.

Handy to know thanks....but how can two scanners give crap results in the previous posts....well my first guess is: it must be old dev or fixer used at the shop and that confused both Epson scanners.
