Yeah, i use Helios 44-3 on macro rings as well. Very nice results, but very shallow DOF.
Actually its not the best cheap russian lens for macro shooting...
Try focusless lens Vega-11u or Vega-29u(m39 mount, i think), from russian photo enlargers, plus macro bellows. I saw this lens around 20-50$. It is very sharp - resolution from 75/60 to 70/40 lines, about twice greater than Helios. _________________ =-=Canon eos 1100D=-=Zenit-E=-=

Sure checked.
That pics are crops, i think.
That is taken with just one or two "small" rings, aperture about F8 or so -
Lens are sharp enough, to crop objects. _________________ =-=Canon eos 1100D=-=Zenit-E=-=

Any reversed ~28-50mm lens can be used as achromatic close-up lens when reversed and stacked on a lens with long focal length (100mm for example)
Generally all of them are much better than thoose cheap close-up lenses and magnifications stronger than 1:1 are no problem. _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester
