Quite good. I have an 85/1.8 Konica that I haven't been able to use yet. I wonder how they compare. _________________ Regards,

wow, very impressive samples Hoan, very impressive focusing and sharpness for wide open!
a question: was there some tilt via tilt adapter involved, specially for the motorcycle?
best greetings,

Andreas,
No tilt adapter this time, just pick the distance to subject that is managable with hyper focal at f1.8. Also I have screen view in mind. In full resolution, there is some area out of focus, but viewing in 1900 px wide it is fine.
I shot many frames of the bike with different focus points on each. The best managable photo is not the one with focus point in the middle, but the one near the front part, with lots of metal reflection.
This lens has PF as other similar long/longer focal from Takumar and Pentax, may be not as bad as 50/1.2 or 24/3.5 or 200/2.5 or old 300/4, but still visible PF in high light metal reflections. The in-focus area minimizes the purple fringle. Since the scene does not have purple color, I just drag the purple color saturation to zero to remove the purple fringle from the rest of the bike.
Same as the scene with the trumpet player. I pick the photo with perfectly in-focus at the trumpet and there is no PF visible, and therefore no PP needed.
You can see the PF in the violin player.
Woodrim,
I have never use Konica. It would be nice to see these lenses. 85mm is my most used focal length last year. |

It's one of an almost perfect old MF lens imho. Sharp, contrasty, smooth bokeh, small size (a bit bigger than Pancolar 80 and Oly 85).
But my copy has a bit greenish/yelowish cast, just slightly. Maybe due to radioactive element?
Well, I've sold it last year. I need some cash and fortunately a buyer which also a great lens collector (not just collector but an active photographer too) willing to pay high for this lens. It's hard to let it go because as far as I know this lens is one of Pentax Takumar's best lens and I haven't spent enough time with this lens to explore it's great potential.

Nice images. The 85/1.8 Tak is a very good performer as we can see on your images.
Would like to recommend that you notice also the cam you used for your images.
