This lens is a pain the butt. It's well-built, and it's so tempting with its reach and light weight. But that light weight makes it really hard to keep it steady -- the shutter firing is enough to cause movement on a monopod at 1/800th. And contrast is also a problem. However, if you can be really patient and wait for contrasty light and still conditions and brace the lens properly, it can provide decent images. Today, I had a hard time because I was shivering in the cold wind!
