As the title says, I bought this lens for £19 to use on both my Sony NEX5N and Minolta X-500 cameras. See here -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Minolta-28-mm-f-3-5-MC-W-Rokkor-SG-/271446983717?nma=true&si=bDPwY2ui9nJB0UtCdebi5WJMcxw%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I haven't received it yet and the photo is the sellers, not mine. There has been a lot of talk recently on the forum re Minolta lenses so I'm hoping this is one of Minoltas' 28's that are supposed to be excellent quality.

Well, for that price, it surely is.
One of the best 28's I had, only the contax distagon 28/2.8 performed "obviously" better than this among the ones I've had, and it costs like 9 times what you paid for this.

It would be nice to see a top twenty or whatever of 28mm f2.8 lenses and find that the one you have and thought was a crappola was in fact a gem that everyone is desparate for.

I have a mint AUTO SUPER-PARAGON PMC 76 28mm f2.8 serial 123494, very very very, (only one with that serial number), rare, with pristine green lined case (crotchless) Canon FD mount with original lens caps.

Let me down gently Sad

I have a slightly older version and it is amazing. You paid a good price for it. Well done.

Yes, I have this lens and it is only bettered by much more expensive stuff like the Distagon, I think it is even better than my beloved Hexanon 3.5/28 by a tiny margin, slightly more contrast and richer colours.

mine is close to yours according to the serial numbers, and it's a favorite of mine. It's a lens I can depend on, which might strange, but I just know what it can do, which is a lot! Cool

Here's a good comparison of Minolta's 28s:

I suspect you'll be very happy with it unless you insist on finding a better lens to compare to.

Thanks for the replies everyone. The lens arrived today - it is in pristine condition, doesn't seem to have ever been used. I'm looking forward to using it over the Easter break. Smile
