I was on a music video set recently which had a few taxidermy-d animals for one of the sets, so i decided to try out my recently acquired Helios 44-2. All of them were shot wide open on a Canon 7D, ISO 640. Numbers 2 and 3 had the exposure increased by a half stop.

1) think this is a pheasant

2) a very happy looking coyote

3) a rather angry bird

I already had a Helios 44, but the focus ring was stiff, so i got this one for video use. What do you think?

Difficult lighting - #1 is def a pheasant Smile
#2 my fave - that's good

Coyote speech bubble: "Yay for being dead!"

I like the second photo the best as well, but the pheasant shot is not a bad second place.

The lighting isn't the greatest. #2 looks ok, Return with a flash?

Laughing or "I've just been stuffed!" Smile

It certainly looks like a pheasant but here the male has a dark green and red head and the female is plain brown, like the bird in pic 3. Is it an American variety? (I assume America because of the coyote).

I wouldn't return with a flash, primarily because i have no idea where the animals ended up. The lighting was the way they were lit for the music video, the animals were just in the background.
