No more focusing at shooting time?

Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives and if things don't work out, just take another shot. |

Read about this in the recent issue of a German tabloid.
Sounds innovative, but I have somewhat mixed feelings.
On the one hand, I'll most likely end up buying one of those Lytro cameras, as I'm a sucker for new technology.
On the other hand, I fear that this will forever end the days of photography as an art form.
Next you know, they are releasing a medium format DSLR that automatically applies the zone system to perfection.
It ceases to be fun or artsy when every bum on the street is able to pull it off, doesn't it? |

Blinx, I thought the same when I heard about this a few months ago. It will change things and it makes me a little sad.
That said, the ability to really create dynamic images is an art and will remain so.
When a pro version of this comes out, it's going to cost a fortune. |
