Is the Super Takumar 28mm/3.5 supposed to have clickless aperture, or is it just my copy?

Should click. Maybe somebody lost the ball bearing(s) during disassembly. More likely, somebody removed the ball bearings because they wanted to use the lens for video -- video users like continuous diaphragm adjustment, for finer tweaking than full clicks make.

Yeah that's what I thought, thanks.

It's no biggie but I lost a couple of shots today, the aperture closed down and my shutter speed went tooooo slooooooow to handhold and I didn't notice . I must have bumped the dial or something, will pay more attention next time for sure. Embarassed

If you can get the ball, shouldn't be too difficult to put in... I found some not so long ago, thread here
